Man Seriously Injured In Hit-Run Crash At Busy Suffolk Intersection

A hit-and-run driver left a man hospitalized in serious condition after he was struck at a busy Long Island intersection, police said.

Officers from the Suffolk County Police Department responded to the intersection of Portion Road and North Morris Avenue in Farmingville at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, where there was a report of an injured pedestrian.

Upon arrival, the officers found Farmingville resident Gabriel Perez, 24, who was injured in the roadway. Perez was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition, police said. 

The investigation determined that he was struck by a motor vehicle in the intersection that fled the scene.
